Rapids Academy players Alex Hernandez, Nolan Nguyen and Nathan Tchoumba have been selected to attend the U.S. Soccer Boys U-14 National ID Camp from March 12-18. The camp, which helps the federation to identify future national team call ups, will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground.

“We are very excited to have Alex, Nathan and Nolan invited to attend the upcoming national team talent ID camp. An invitation to the camp signifies an initial step on the pathway to being selected to a future national team roster. Beyond that, the camp promises to be a great opportunity for our players to compete against some of the top talents from across the country. Each of these players have earned the opportunity to train and compete on this stage and it is a well deserved recognition from the federation," said Chris Cartlidge, Rapids Academy Technical Director.

Hernandez joined the club in 2022 from local youth side CASA. During the current 2023-24 MLS NEXT season, the midfielder has been playing with the U-15 side as an underage player. Hernandez has contributed seven goals and one assist thus far and has helped his team to a first place standing in the West Division of the MLS NEXT Pro Pathway with a 6-1-4 record and a third place position in the Frontier Division in MLS NEXT Flex with a 6-2-1 record.

As a part of the club’s U-14 team, Nguyen and Tchoumba have been key influences in the team’s 9-2-3 record during the current MLS NEXT season. As it stands, the Rapids sit in third place in the U-14 Frontier Division, having only dropped two matches so far this season.

Defensive midfielder Nguyen has added two assists while attacking midfielder Tchoumba has contributed one goal and two assists in the team’s ongoing run. Both players are notably products of the Colorado Rapids Futures Program, which is a program with top players from clubs across the state that are eligible to be identified, trained and ultimately selected onto Colorado Rapids Academy rosters.
