Defender Jeremy Kelly Recalled from Phoenix Rising FC

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids have recalled defender Jeremy Kelly from his loan with Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship, the club announced today. In accordance with MLS roster compliance regulations, Kelly is available for selection for Colorado’s match on Sunday, July 4, against Seattle Sounders FC.

Kelly, 23, was loaned to Phoenix Rising FC on March 24 and played 245 minutes across five appearances, two of them starts, and recorded one assist. The North Carolina native is in his second season as a professional after joining the Rapids via trade in 2020 after being selected ninth overall at the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. He went on to record 246 minutes across eight regular season appearances for the Rapids last year. Kelly was a four-year standout at the University of North Carolina, helping the Tar Heels to consecutive NCAA College Cup appearances.

The Rapids will host their first match at full capacity in over a year this Sunday, July 4, at 7 p.m. MT, as they host Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders FC at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. Fans can purchase tickets online at ColoradoRapids.com/Tickets.
