Six players were recognized by the club with awards at the 2018 end of season awards gala, A Burgundy Affair presented by Audi, on Tuesday night.
The annual event featured food, libations and a silent auction, benefiting Kroenke Sports Charities, followed by a special awards ceremony recognizing players and staff for their outstanding performances on and off the pitch.
Jack Price racked up two awards as he took home the Team MVP and the Fan Favorite awards. The first team voted Edgar Castillo as the Players' Player of the Year.
Tommy Smith was named the Defensive Player of the Year while another defender, Kortne Ford, won Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.
The Academy Player of the Year Award was given to Cole Bassett, now on the first-team, for his top-level performances for the U-17's. Zac MacMath was named the Humanitarian of the Year for the second consecutive year for his continued participation in Rapids' community events, particularly the Special Olympics Unified program.
On the staff side, Account Executive Cooper King won the Gold Star Sales and Service Award, which is presented to the Sales and Service member who relentlessly goes above and beyond and champions the '24/7/365' mentality at all times.
Team Operations Manager James Roeling was awarded the President's One Club Award, which is awarded to the person who has made substantive, yet largely unrecognized contributions to the club this season. They are driven, selfless, forward thinking and a motivator. They aspire for greatness and perform at the highest level. This person truly embodies the “One Club” mentality of teamwork and collaboration and are constantly trying to better themselves and the people around them.
The team's job is not done yet. They host FC Dallas at home this Sunday, October 28 for the final game of the 2018 MLS Regular Season. (TICKETS)
