March 2, 2013 - a year ago this very day - rookie striker Deshorn Brown cut a frustrated figure on his MLS debut as the Colorado Rapids were beaten 1-0 at FC Dallas in the opening fixture of the 2013 season.
Fast forward exactly 12 months, and that same, lightning-quick forward opened his international account with a first goal for Jamaica - a perfect way to end what has been a phenomenal year.
Brown has been in sparkling form during preseason, scoring four goals in six games for the Rapids, whereupon he jetted off to Barbados - missing the 2-2 tie with New England Revolution - and showed similar form for Jamaica.
The Reggae Boyz beat Barbados by two goals to nil on Sunday night. Brown's goal came late on, after Darren Mattocks of the Vancouver Whitecaps had eventually broken the deadlock.
After struggling to adjust on a testing surface, Mattocks finally converted from close range on 76 minutes, before Brown opened his international account with a header six minutes later.
It was briefly reported at the time that he had netted for Jamaica in the 2-2 tie with Honduras in a World Cup qualifier back in October, but this was later given as an own goal, courtesy of Jorge Claros. This time, it seems, there is no doubt.
Brown, who was the Rapids' leading scorer last season (10, the most of any MLS rookie), made his Jamaica debut in a World Cup qualifier against the USA last October. He has now made five appearances.
Jamaica are again in action on Wednesday, when they face St. Lucia.
