Midfielder Bryan Acosta was announced to the MLS Team of the Matchday bench on Monday following his performance against St. Louis CITY SC over the weekend, where he dominated the middle of the pitch to help secure the Rapids' 1-1 draw.
Acosta completed four shots on the night, two of them on goal. This is his first Team of the Matchday honor with the Rapids.
"I thought Bryan had a sensational game," said head coach Robin Fraser. "In the first half he was involved in so many attacks, sprinting forward and having to get back and defend deep, attacking like a forward but defending like a midfielder, I thought he was really dangerous and really effective.
"On the play where he hurts himself it was just pure sheer effort to get there. Unfortunate that we didn't get a goal out of it and unfortunate that he hurts himself on the play, but his ability to get places quickly is pretty incredible. And his determination tonight to get on the end of some things, to win some balls and initiate our transition, I thought was fantastic."
In his 77 minutes played on Saturday, Acosta completed six final third entries, won six of his duels and forced four turnovers. The Honduran was named the Man of the Match for his efforts on the Rapids' pitch.
