When some were already on break from work or school on Christmas Eve, new Rapids forward Edson Buddle tweeted the following:
The 2010 U.S. World Cup forward has admited to being surprised that the LA Galaxy traded him after he was part of their back-to-back MLS Cup championships.
"You get used to things changing. I've been around awhile and know that," Buddle told The Denver Post recently. "I started to realize that this is a good opportunity for me, and I'm very happy to be part of the Rapids organization."
Buddle is 8th all-time among Major League Soccer's goal-scoring leaders with 93 career goals. Only seven players have scored 100 goals in their MLS careers, and Buddle is likely the next to reach the century mark. The only other active player within range is Houston's Brian Ching, who has scored 82 career goals .
And after the Rapids parted ways with forwards Conor Casey and Omar Cummings last month, Buddle is looking forward to shouldering the weight of scoring goals for his new team.
"I'm up for the challenge," he told the Post. "I just want to do what I can for us to win matches."
