Colorado Rapids announced today that defender Dennis Castillo has been loaned to Charlotte Independence of the United Soccer League (USL). This will mark Castillo’s second loan stint of the season with the Rapids’ USL affiliate.
Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Castillo at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Castillo, 24, made three consecutive regular season appearances for the Rapids, logging 244 minutes along the way. The Costa Rica youth international also went the distance in both of the club’s 2017 U.S. Open Cup matches.
During his first loan spell, Castillo appeared in eight contests (seven starts) for the Independence, registering two goals. Charlotte (11-3-6; 39 points) sits atop the Eastern Conference and is currently riding a franchise record-equaling 12-game unbeaten streak.
