COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has loaned defender Michael Edwards to USL Championship side San Antonio FC for the 2023 season, pending Federation approval. Under the terms of the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Edwards at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to all MLS roster compliance guidelines.

Edwards, 22, spent the majority of the 2022 season on loan with Colorado Rapids 2, making 12 appearances and scoring a goal for the MLS NEXT Pro side. The Woodbridge, Virginia, native also logged his second stint with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC last year, registering 10 appearances as the side reached the 2022 USL Championship Western Conference Final.

Prior to his arrival in Colorado, Edwards spent three years in Germany with VfL Wolfsburg’s youth system before joining the Rapids in 2021.
