COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids announced today the club has loaned defender Sebastian Anderson to USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC for the remainder of the 2022 season, pending Federation approval. Under the terms of the loan agreement, the Rapids retain the right to recall Anderson at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to all MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Anderson, 20, has spent the majority of the 2022 season on loan with Colorado Rapids 2, making 13 appearances and scoring a goal for the MLS NEXT Pro side despite missing a large portion of the season due to injury. The Highlands Ranch, Colo., native will be logging his fourth stint in Colorado Springs after previously spending parts of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons on loan with Switchbacks FC.
A product of the Rapids Academy, Anderson signed a Homegrown Player contract with the club in April 2019, becoming the youngest signing in Rapids history at 16 years old. He also became the youngest player to make their professional debut for the club and the youngest player ever to score a goal in MLS for Colorado, both at age 16.
