Dillon Serna with US U20s vs Mexico's U-20s in CONCACAF Final on March 3, 2013

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, April 22, 2013) – Colorado Rapids midfielder Dillon Serna today was named to the United States Under-20 National Team roster for a training camp from April 22-29 by head coach Tab Ramos. The training camp, which will take place at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif, culminates with a match against the Chivas USA reserve team on April 28.

Serna, a Brighton, Colo., native and Colorado Rapids Homegrown Player, is one of 11 players called-up that were part of the USA’s CONCACAF U-20 Championship Squad. The United States finished second in the tournament, falling 3-1 to Mexico in the final while securing a place in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which takes place from June 21-July 23 in Turkey.

This is Serna’s third summons to the U.S. U-20 squad, having earned his first call-up last summer for the Northern Ireland Milk Cup. As a late addition to the roster for the CONCACAF U-20 Championship, he played all 90 minutes in the final against Mexico as well as the semifinal against Cuba.

Serna was signed by the Colorado Rapids as the club’s third ever Homegrown Player on January 14, 2013. He has been a staple in the Rapids Reserves lineup this year, scoring twice in four matches, including in the 2-1 loss to the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday night. He made his first 18-man senior team roster last Saturday against Seattle.
