Colorado Rapids announced today that goalkeeper John Berner has rejoined the club from Phoenix Rising FC of the United Soccer League (USL).
Berner, 26, was selected by the Rapids in the second round (35th overall) of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft after spending three years at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. The 6'3" goalkeeper started five regular season matches during his rookie campaign in 2014 and has also spent time on loan with Charlotte Independence and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
Berner will be available for selection this Saturday, as the Rapids head into their third and final regular season meeting against Western Conference foe FC Dallas. Kickoff this Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. MT (Altitude) at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
