COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids have signed defender Auston Trusty to a new contract through the 2023 season, the club announced today.
“We’re delighted to announce a new contract for Auston,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids Executive VP & General Manager. “Auston is a young, talented defender who has already proven himself in MLS and shown tremendous potential. We look forward to seeing his continued development over the coming years.”
Trusty made five starts among eight appearances in his first year with Colorado, contributing to two clean sheets. The 22-year-old made 56 starts with the Philadelphia Union in 2018 and 2019 before being acquired via trade last November. He was named to the MLS 22 Under 22 in 2018 after playing all 3,060 minutes of the season as a rookie, setting a league record for the youngest field player to do so over a 34-game regular season at 20 years old.
The Media, Pa., native has also made 17 appearances with U.S. youth national teams and was called up to the USMNT’s January 2019 camp.
