COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids have signed midfielder Jack Price to a new multi-year contract extension through the 2023 MLS season with club options for 2024 and 2025, the club announced today.
“Jack has become the heartbeat of our team and one of the best midfielders in the league since his arrival four years ago,” said Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids Executive VP & General Manager. “His leadership, selflessness and elite set-piece deliveries have been a vital part of our on-field success and we’re thrilled to secure his future in Burgundy.”
Signed by the Rapids ahead of the 2018 season from England’s Wolverhampton Wanderers, Price, has become a key figure in Colorado’s midfield and one of the most effective distributors in MLS. The Englishman has recorded a league-leading 22 assists off set pieces since 2019, including eight in 2021, while his 12 overall assists last season led the Rapids and were tied for fourth-most in MLS. In his four seasons with the club, Price has made 104 appearances for Colorado, 100 as starts, and recorded two goals and 32 assists.
Born in Shrewsbury, England, Price began his career in Wolves’ youth academy and made his senior debut in 2013 at age 20. He spent four seasons with Wolves’ senior side before joining the Rapids ahead of the 2018 MLS season. The 29-year-old was named club captain following Tim Howard’s retirement at the end of the 2019 season.
