After winning a nine-goal thriller over the Montreal Impact, the Colorado Rapids host a San Jose Earthquakes side unbeaten in five straight.
Led by a Kei Kamara hat trick, the Rapids (6-12-5) defeated the Montreal Impact, 6-3, at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park. Kamara also scored an own goal to put the visitors in front in the 18th minute. Kamara scored back-to-back goals after an own goal by Evan Bush and Diego Rubio added a first-half stoppage time goal to give Colorado a 4-1 halftime lead. Maxi Urruti and Saphir Taider scored back-to-back goals to pull the Impact to within a goal before Andre Shinyashiki and Kamara netted a pair of goals inside the final 12 minutes to close the scoring.
The Earthquakes (11-7-5) had a four-match winning streak snapped, but extended an unbeaten run with a 1-1 draw against Columbus Crew SC at Avaya Stadium Saturday. Magnus Eriksson put the hosts in front three minutes from halftime before Gyasi Zardes equalized in the 65th minute as the Quakes moved level on points with Minnesota United in second place in the West.
