COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, November 12, 2013) –Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown has been called up by the Jamaican National Team for upcoming friendly matches against Trinidad and Tobago on November 15 and 19. Jamaica will host the first match in Montego Bay on Friday the 15th before visiting Port of Spain on the 19th. Brown has made two appearances with the Reggae Boyz, coming in the final matches of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying in October.

Brown, 22, emerged as a Rookie of the Year candidate during his first professional season, having been drafted 6th overall by the Rapids in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. The speedy striker finished with ten goals in 31 appearances (24 starts), leading both Colorado and all MLS rookies, and was also tied for third on the team with four assists (trailing only fellow Rapids player Dillon Powers among MLS rookies). The native of Manchester, Jamaica played in each of Jamaica’s most recent matches, the final two CONCACAF qualifying games for the FIFA World Cup,
The Rapids have finished the 2013 season, setting several franchise records during the regular season and qualifying for the playoffs for the 12th time in team history. The club is expected to have the 11th overall selection in January’s MLS SuperDraft, after which the team will reconvene in Denver for preseason.
