Finalists revealed for 2017 MLS year-end awards

2017.10.31 End of the Year Finalist

Major League Soccer on Tuesday announced the finalists for each of the 2017 year-end awards which honor the league’s top performers during the regular season.


A total of five finalists were unveiled in the race for the 2017 Landon Donovan MVP award with Golden Boot winner Nemanja Nikolic joining Atlanta newcomer Miguel Almiron, Portland's Diego Valeri and former MLS MVPs David Villa (NYCFC) and Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC).


Nikolic and Almiron also figure among the Newcomer of the Year finalists together with Atlanta United forward Josef MartĂ­nez (19 goals scored in 2017).


The finalists which follow below (in alphabetical order) earned the most votes in polling among three voting groups: current MLS players, MLS club technical staffs (coaches, technical directors/GMs) and a select group of media members.
