From Argentina to Denver: Braian Galván, Nuggets' Facu Campazzo Swap Jerseys After Rapids Victory

Argentinian and Denver-based athletes Braian Galván and Facundo “Facu” Campazzo shared a moment together on Saturday night at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. Following Colorado’s defeat of Portland, the Rapids winger and Nuggets point guard swapped jerseys pitchside and represented their home country in the Mile High City.

“Saying thank you is not enough, you deserve more than that for how great you are Facu, on and off the court. Happy to have met you,” Galván said in an Instagram post about the meeting.

Both athletes moved to Denver in 2020, as Galván joined the Rapids in January after playing for Argentine first division side Colón de Santa Fe for three seasons and Campazzo signed with the Nuggets in November from Spanish League club Real Madrid. Galván, a native of San Miguel de Tucumán, has been called up to the Argentinian U-20 men’s national team and trained against the senior side during their preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, while Córdoba-born Campazzo has recorded 63 games for the Argentine national team, including eight games in the 2012 London Olympics.

The jersey swap capped off an unforgettable night for Galván, as he recorded assists on both goals scored in the Rapids' 2-0 victory to clinch a playoff berth. He was named Man of the Match and announced to the MLS Team of the Week following his performance.
