Honolulu, Hawaii - The day after the first match of the Hawaiian Islands Invitational was met with different tasks for different players. The coaching staff took advantage of the surroundings to keep Thursday's starters at the hotel for an hour-long regeneration session. The rest of the group was back out at the University of Hawaii for a 90-minute training session to keep sharp and move their legs since most did not workout on gameday.
"My body was feeling ok," said Omar Cummings after coming out of the ocean. "But on turf it's always hard on the body. Recovery is always good - a good strech, a good run, just to flush out the body a little bit, and get nagging injuries out of the way."
The players first went on a twenty minute jog along the beach sidewalk and in towards the main strip at Waikiki Beach before returning to the ocean front for a stretch. The regeneration session finished with more stretches and a short swim in the ocean.
"It was definitely a 10," said Marvell Wynne about this post-game session. "All the other ones are in a pool doing things against a wall. Out here we're out in the ocean, in Hawaii. It can't get better then this. I'm pretty happy right now."
The team will have the afternoon off and play Melbourne Heart on Saturday at 5 pm local time (8 pm MT).
