Don't miss a second of the action as Colorado Rapids midfielder Djordje Mihailovic takes to the world stage to represent the United States at the Olympics this summer!
Mihailovic will feature with the U.S. Men's Olympic Team as one of three over-age players for head coach Marko Mitrovic. To open the group stage, the team will take on host nation France on July 24 in Marseille before facing New Zealand there on July 27. Mihailovic and the team will then travel to St. Etienne for the third match of the group stage where they will play Guinea. The two teams with the most points coming out of the groups stage will advance to the quarterfinals.
Since arriving to the Rapids in the offseason, Mihailovic has shone in the center of the pitch--earning 10 goals and 9 assists in 21 appearances (all starts). He is the second active Rapids player to be called up for the Olympics (Joey DiGiamarino, 2000, USA). The midfielder has represented his country with the senior national team 11 times, scoring three goals and recording one assist in those appearances.

USA vs. France | Group Stage Match 1
Mihailovic started and featured for 76 minutes against host nation France to open his Olympic campaign. The midfielder posted one shot in the 3-0 defeat, a 59th-minute chance from outside the box that would have sailed past French goalkeeper Restes if not for the crossbar.
New Zealand vs. USA | Group Stage Match 2
The men's Olympic scoring drought, lasting since 2008, was finally ended by Mihailovic from the penalty spot in the 8th minute of the contest with New Zealand. After Nathan Harriel was taken down in the box, it was Colorado's No. 10 that stepped up to the spot to take the penalty. He slammed home a shot to the right side of the net to claim the men's first Olympic goal in 16 years.
The Rapids' Designated Player then assisted the second goal of the 1-4 victory just minutes later, sending a free kick into the 18 that bounced and was deflected around until fellow overage teammate Walker Zimmerman found an opening to slot the ball home. Mihailovic was subbed off in the 56th minute as the score held at 0-3, but his team found another through Paxten Aaronson shortly after to give the side a commanding lead.
USA vs. Guinea | Group Stage Match 3
Mihailovic struck again in the U.S.'s final group stage match against Guinea, curling home a free kick just yards outside the box in the 14th minute. He earned yet another start from head coach Mitrovic, and put an emphasis on his group stage play so far as he put his side on the board first in St. Etienne. His strike found the near post in perfect placement to start off the scoring, and the U.S. finished the match with a 3-0 scoreline to advance past the group stage for the first time since 2000.
Morocco vs. USA | Quarterfinals
The U.S. and Mihailovic saw their Olympic journey come to an end on Friday morning after falling to Morocco 4-0 at Parc des Princes. Mihailovic started the match, eventually subbing off in the 66th minute. The midfield faced struggles against Morocco's dynamic play, trailing 1-0 at halftime, and Mitrovic's side eventually conceded three more before the final whistle to signal their departure from the Games.
Over the course of the 10-day, 4-match stint, Mihailovic started all games, notched two goals and one assist and became the first overage player to score in the Olympics for the U.S.
