The Colorado Rapids kicked off the July 4th holiday looking for a win with a new face in goal as the legendary "Secretary of Defense," also known as Tim Howard, started in his first match with the club. But the defending MLS champion Portland Timbers had ideas of sabotage in mind as they fought neck-and-neck with the Rapids throughout the match, with plenty of opportunities to spoil Howard's stateside homecoming.
After full time though, both sides were unable to find the back of the net to take the upper hand in the Monday night match, which ended in a scoreless draw. And for his high motor and impressive performance, Jermaine Jones has been named Man of the Match.
