When the U.S. Soccer Federation announced that Dick's Sporting Goods Park would be the site of the U.S. MNT's first home game of the final round of World Cup Qualifying, the team's head coach, Jurgen Klinsman, had this to say:
He also said:
“There are many, many locations now in the US that give us a great environment. We've seen that already over the last couple of years. I think soccer is just on the rise. No matter where the national team is now traveling, they will get a huge backup from their fans, and so we are sure that playing in Denver, this crucial game against Costa Rica, it gives us big support, it will give us confidence, it will push us to get to three points."
Well, he was right on the first point.
The Colorado fans sold the game out within an hour of the public on sale after most tickets were scooped up by Rapids season ticket holders during a presale. Now his team will need to take care of the three points.
