COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, September 29, 2011) – Colorado Rapids players Jeff Larentowicz (USA) and Steward Ceus (Haiti) have been called up to their respective National Teams for upcoming international matches. The players will participate in games from October 7-11, and will return to the Rapids before the team’s home matchup against MLS rival Real Salt Lake.
Midfielder Jeff Larentowicz has been selected by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann to represent the United States for an Oct. 8 match against Honduras in Miami Gardens, and then travel with the team to New Jersey to take on Ecuador on Oct. 11. Larentowicz recently earned his second cap with the team when appeared in the in USA’s 1-0 loss to Belgium in Brussels as a 76’ minute substitute for Jose Torres on Sept. 2. He was an unused sub in the team’s previous friendly, a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica in California on Sept. 6.
Goalkeeper Steward Ceus, who starred for the Rapids in last night’s 3-1 CONCACAF Champions League victory at Isidro Metapán, has been called up by Haiti for the second round of qualifier games for the 2014 World Cup against the US Virgin Islands on Oct. 7 in Saint Croix and against Curacao in Port-au-Prince on Oct. 11. Ceus has five caps with the Haitian National Team, including two last month when he helped the Grenadiers to a 4-2 victory over Curacao on Sept. 6 and a convincing 6-0 defeat of the US Virgin Islands four days earlier, earning him a 3-1-1 record and two shutouts since his 2010 debut.
