Having been in the 18 for the trip to Portland Timbers the previous weekend, midfielder Sam Hamilton was back playing for Colorado Springs Switchbacks on Saturday in the USL.
Hamilton started and played 84 minutes of a 1-1 home tie with Rio Grande Valley FC. The Switchbacks took the lead through Saeed Robinson just eight minutes in, but were denied all three points when RGV leveled with 19 minutes remaining.
The Switchbacks are now 10 points from the playoff places, with just four games remaining. The next two are against two of the top three in the Western Conference, starting with their final home game of the season, this Saturday against Phoenix Rising FC.
The Rapids’ USL affiliate, Charlotte Independence, were without a game at the weekend. Their match at Charleston Battery, scheduled for this past Saturday, was postponed due to the threat of Hurricane Florence. It will now be played this Wednesday.
