Colorado Rapids midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye was called up to the Canada Men’s National Team for its FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches in September, Canada Soccer announced today.
Kaye has appeared in 10 matches, eight as a starter, for Canada in 2021, adding two goals and four assists. The Toronto native played in all five of Canada’s matches at the Concacaf Gold Cup as the Canucks reached the semifinal for the first time since 2007. Kaye has earned 24 senior caps for Canada since making his debut in 2017.
Kaye joined the Rapids via trade from Los Angeles FC on July 27 and has started all four matches for Colorado since then, adding a goal and an assist. The 26-year-old scored the game-winning header in the Rapids’ 2-1 win over RSL on Saturday.
Kaye joins Rapids teammate Kellyn Acosta in FIFA World Cup Qualifying, as Acosta was called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team on Thursday for the USMNT’s three September qualifiers.
