Canada Soccer announced on Thursday that they have launched the voting for the 2021 Canada Soccer Player Awards for a year that both National Teams rose to new heights with an Olympic Gold Medal for the Women’s National Team and a first place spot in the Concacaf Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifiers for the Men’s National Team. Voting for the 2021 Canada Soccer Players of the Year, celebrating the top Canadian footballers from the 2021 calendar year, are open to media and coaches from 2 to 11 December.
Rapids' midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye was named to the list of players recognized this year. With the Canadian team, Kaye has recorded a total 30 appearances, two goals and seven assists.
Media and coaches will vote for the Canada Soccer Players of the Year Award, which was introduced in 1993 to celebrate the achievements at both the international and club level.
Voting will be done by Canadian media and coaches, selecting first choice, second choice, and third choice. The award celebrates Canada Soccer’s top footballers in recognition of their 2021 achievements with both the National Team and their respective club teams.
