Following the Colorado Rapids' 2-2 draw with the Montreal Impact, head coach Pablo Mastroeni, Shkëlzen Gashi and Bobby Burling spoke with the media about the match.
Pablo Mastroeni
On facing adversity... “The one thing about this team is we’re resilient. They believe in themselves, and they believe in each other. Soccer is no different than life, there’s going to be adversity along the way, and we responded well.”
On having success this year... “We have 15 new players this year, and that not only does a lot to change the performances on the field, but also the type of culture that we wanted to bring into the locker room.”
Shkëlzen Gashi
On the team effort... “The team effort was very important tonight. Twice we were down, and twice we came back, and it was a very important point.”
On scoring his second goal... “I don’t think it’s important for one guy to score goals. We have a good team and everyone can score. The important thing is that we never gave up and everybody did their best.”
Bobby Burling
On coming from behind... “It’s just one of those things where we just keep battling adversity. Going down on the road is not easy, but we kept fighting, twice, and we ended up getting the tie.”
On being the unlikely hero... “Oh no, not really. Big guys get up front sometimes and get some goals, and fortunately tonight it was me with my foot, not my head, usually it’s always the head. But credit everyone on the team who went full strength tonight.”
