Commerce City, Colo. - Through the suggestion and encouragement of her friend, Mollie, self-described 'passionate' soccer fan Emily Megee decided to enter the contest on the Rapids' Undercurrent fan site that gave one lucky winner a free trip for two to MLS Cup 2012.
Last week, Emily received a call from the Rapids front office staff informing her that she had won the trip.
"I was not expecting to win, so I was very surprised and overwhelmed with excitement when I got the call," Megee wrote to ColoradoRapids.com via email. "Mollie is one of my good friends and she told me to enter the contest and she loves soccer. When I first called her she did not believe me until I forwarded her the email. She was extremely excited once she believed me."

Of course, Mollie said yes to Emily's invite to join her on the trip to California this weekend to watch the LA Galaxy host the Houston Dynamo at The Home Depot Center in a rematch of last year's final (ESPN, 2:30 pm MT).
Until she move to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado - Colorado Springs, Emily often made the three hour drive from her home of Bartlesville, Oklahoma to her birth city of Kansas City to watch Sporting KC matches. But for the past three years, she has frequently made the shorter drive north to Commerce City to attend Rapids matches at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Now she'll have an opportunity to visit another MLS stadium.
"I have been to L.A. but have never been to The Home Depot Center," Megee said. "I am most excited about the game...getting the opportunity to go to an MLS Cup is very exciting. I had to reschedule a couple meetings but nothing too important. Winning this trip to L.A. was much more important than anything I had planned."
In addition to the trip to LA, the tickets to MLS Cup and the surrounding events, Emily and Mollie will also receive a Rapids fan pack. And while dressed in burgundy at the stadium, she won't be supporting the home side Galaxy.
"I will be cheering for the Houston Dynamo," she added. "I am not sure they will win, but I hope they do."
