Nathan Sturgis celebrates goal vs NY with Shane O'Neill

While no Colorado Rapids players were named to the 2013 MLS All-Star team, midfielder Nathan Sturgis will be representing the Rapids at activities in Kansas City surrounding the League's showcase event.

Sturgis was invited by Major League Soccer to take part in events with League partner, Castrol, ahead of Wednesday night's match against AS Roma at Sporting Park (7 p.m. MT, ESPN2 and UniMas)

The midfielder flew in to Kansas City on Tuesday night and was scheduled to take part in a media soccer game on Wednesday morning before heading to a VIP luncheon.

Sturgis will sign autographs at the Castrol tent prior to the All-Star game before watching the match from Sporting Park.

The 26-year has had a break-through year with the Rapids after being acquired in an off-season trade from Houston. After making his two brief appearances off the bench, Sturgis has started each of the last 14 games for Colorado, scoring four goals and adding four assists.

He is scheduled to return to Colorado early Thursday morning and take part in the team's training session at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
