FOUR IN A ROW
For the fourth consecutive year, the Rapids will kick off their MLS campaign on the road as they travel to Seattle for the leagueās only Sunday fixture on opening weekend. Colorado is 1-1-1 in season openers in that span under Robin Fraser and will look to return to the form that saw them record the second-most points per game away from home in MLS between 2020-21.
REJUVENATED RAPIDS
Following a busy offseason, the Rapids will be kicking off their 2023 campaign with several new faces on the roster after acquiring defenders Andreas MaxsĆø, Alex Gersbach and Moise Bombito, midfielder Connor Ronan, forwards KĆ©vin Cabral and Calvin Harris, and goalkeeper Marko IliÄ during the current transfer window. The club will also be bolstered by the return several players from season-long injuries, such as defender Aboubacar Keita (ACL) and midfielder Braian GalvĆ”n (ACL), along with the return of homegrown midfielder Cole Bassett from his loan in the Netherlands with Fortuna Sittard.
NEW YEAR, NEW RECORDS IN SIGHT
Several Rapids players enter the season looking to build on individual records set with the club last year. Forward Diego Rubio, who equaled the Rapidsā all-time, single-season scoring record in 2022 (16 goals), is currently fifth in club history with 34 total goals scored all-time, which is just four away from surpassing John Spencer for fourth-most. Similarly, goalkeeper William Yarbrough is currently tied for second-most shutouts in club history at 26, only three away from matching Matt Pickensā all-time record of 29.
