COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Friday, February 22, 2013) – The Colorado Rapids fell to the LA Galaxy by a 2-1 score in the club’s final preseason match on Friday evening in Santa Barbara, with defender Drew Moor scoring Colorado’s goal after 12 minutes. The Rapids played well in their final preparation for next Saturday’s season opener at FC Dallas.
In the 12th minute, the Rapids took a 1-0 lead on a great finish from central defender Drew Moor and a perfect pass from forward Kevin Harbottle. After a corner, the ball bounced around the box before being cleared all the way back to Marvell Wynne at midfield, who played it to Harbottle about 50 yards from goal on the sideline. The Chilean dribbled into the middle of the field before threading a through ball to Moor, still upfield from the corner kick, who lifted a shot over the onrushing Carlo Cudicini and into the Galaxy net.
The Galaxy equalized in the 36th minute after the Rapids defense turned the ball over at the top of the box. The ball was played in to Robbie Keane, whose close range shot was saved by Steward Ceus, but the rebound fell directly to Marcelo Sarvas who was left with an easy finish. LA took the lead late in the match, when a cross from Sean Franklin bounced around in the box before Jack McBean finished from close range.

Tonight’s exhibition against the Galaxy came immediately following a 0-0 draw for the Rapids in a scrimmage against UCSB. Colorado opens the regular season on March 2 in Dallas before hosting their home opener on March 9 against the Philadelphia Union.
