Both teams traded chances in the first half, with the best opportunities falling to Rapids forward Quincy Amarikwa, who had a header in the 27th minute go just over and a low shot flash just wide five minutes later. Goalkeeper Steward Ceus made one big stop to keep the game scoreless early in the first half, and his replacement at the half, Ian Joyce, stopped a Fusion player on a breakaway in the best chance of the second session.
