COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The Colorado Rapids have set the club’s preseason schedule leading up to the March 10 season opener against the Columbus Crew at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The team will travel to California and Hawaii in February as the Rapids prepare for their 17th Major League Soccer season.
After two weeks training in Commerce City, the Rapids will travel to California on February 4, training in Oxnard and San Luis Obispo for more than week before returning to Denver. The team will play at least two matches in California, against Chivas USA and the San Jose Earthquakes.
Following another week in Colorado, the club will then travel to Hawaii to participate in theHawaiian Islands Invitational, spending February 19-26 in Honolulu. In Hawaii, the Rapids will face Japanese J-League club Yokohama FC and then either South Korea's Busan I'Park or Australia's Melbourne Heart two days later.
The club opens camp this Thursday, January 19, when players report for physical examinations, followed by fitness assessment and testing on Friday and Saturday. The team’s first training session will be on Monday, January 23 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park,.
