Amid the current MLS season suspension, ColoradoRapids.com caught up midfielder Nicolas Benezet to see how he's been adjusting to Colorado and life in quarantine. Benezet discussed his day-to-day and how he has put his coaching skills to the test.

ColoradoRapids.com: What has your training been like?

Benezet: The Rapids staff gave us some equipment, but as far as workouts go, I am the coach, and Younes [Namli] in the student. He listens to me, and we try to keep in shape. He is a good student [laughs].

ColoradoRapids.com: Outside of workouts, what does your day-to-day look like?

Benezet: I have been watching TV, playing video games like Fortnite and Mario Kart, and I like reading books. That’s it. I do the same thing every day.

ColoradoRapids.com: Before this, were you able to explore Colorado?

Benezet: No, I came to Denver, and then went directly to preseason in Los Angeles. When I came back to Denver, I really didn’t have time because I had to search for a house and a car. But, after the quarantine is lifted, I would like to drive up and see the mountains because it is so beautiful when the snow is coming.

ColoradoRapids.com: What do you miss and what excites you about getting back with the team to start playing again?

Benezet: I miss football because I grew up with it, and I played every day. When you tell me I can’t play football, it’s very tough for players to hear that. I'm very excited to get back because I didn’t make it on the field the first two games, so I am very excited.

ColoradoRapids.com: What is your message to the fans during this time?

Benezet: It’s been a really tough time for everyone, especially the fans. I would have to say do your part and take care of yourself, and be patient because football will be back soon!
