This will be the Rapids’ first trip to Las Vegas since the team played Real Salt Lake to a scoreless tie in a 2007 preseason match. The Rapids also played Mexican club Santos Laguna in Las Vegas in 2003, which Colorado won 2-0 in front of 6,122 fans, also at Sam Boyd Stadium at UNLV. The Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club has been a Rapids adidas Alliance partner since 2010.
The exhibition against Chivas USA in Las Vegas joins a series of matches in Tucson on the preseason schedule for the Rapids, as the team has previously announced that it would participate in the Desert Friendlies presented by FC Tucson starting in late January.
