The Colorado Rapids will host the Atlanta Silverbacks of the North American Soccer League (NASL) next Tuesday, June 24 at 7 p.m. MT at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the fifth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Tickets are available now, with special rates for Rapids season and partial ticket plan holders.
The Rapids qualified for the 5th round of the U.S. Open Cup with a 5-2 win over Orlando City SC of the USL Professional Division (USL-Pro) on Tuesday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. The Open Cup is an annual knock-out tournament featuring teams from all levels of the sport (from amateur through MLS), now in its 101st year, making it the oldest continuously-running soccer competition in the United States.
The west side of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will be open for the match, with entrance to the stadium through Gate G and through Eighteen76. General admission seating in Sections 128/129 is available for $20 for adults and $15 for children, and in Sections 126/127 and 130/131 for $15 adults/$10 children. Rapids Season Ticket Holders, partial plan holders, and groups of 10 or more will also receive a discount of up to 50% on all tickets. The Atlanta Silverbacks reached the fifth round by virtue of a come-from-behind, 2-1 home victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday, June 14 in their previous match. Atlanta is the former club of current Rapids players Chris Klute and Joe Nasco, who were teammates on the Silverbacks in 2012. The team plays in the second tier of American professional soccer, the NASL, and is currently in eighth place in the 10-team league with a 3-1-5 (W-L-T) record.
Next Tuesday’s match will be the second of four straight home matches for the Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, following the victory over Orlando City and ahead of the June 28 MLS match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC and July 4 meeting with Columbus Crew.
