COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, January 31, 2013) – Colorado Rapids midfielder Martín Rivero has undergone successful surgery on his fractured right foot on Thursday afternoon in Denver, and is expected to miss 2-3 months. Rivero suffered the injury in the 44th minute of the Rapids’ 3-1 preseason match against the Portland Timbers on Tuesday held in Tucson, Ariz., as part of The Desert Friendlies presented by FC Tucson.

The Rapids have two remaining matches in Tucson, facing the Houston Dynamo on Thursday evening and the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday before traveling back to Denver. The matches will be streamed on www.ColoradoRapids.com. Colorado opens the regular season on March 2 and plays its home opener on March 9 against the Philadelphia Union.
