Rapids re-sign midfielder Steven Emory

Steven Emory re-signed by the Rapids

COMMERCE CITY, Colo.  – The Colorado Rapids announced on Thursday that the club has re-signed Fort Collins native Steven Emory  to a new contract. The midfielder originally joined the Rapids prior to the 2011 season, making his professional debut on March 30 in a U.S. Open Cup Play-In match at the Chicago Fire. Per club and league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.


“Steven put in a lot of hard work last season and grew a lot as a player,” said Colorado Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. “We’re glad to have him back this season and look forward to seeing him develop further.”


EMORY BIO

Emory was discovered by the Rapids during the club’s combine in January 2011, and was later signed on March 1. His only first-team appearance was in the 2-1 loss to the Fire in the Open Cup Play-In, though he also made nine Reserve Team appearances, starting six games, scoring two goals.


In other team news, defenders Miguel Comminges, Danny Earls and Mike Holody, who were waived by the club in December, will not be returning to the Rapids.
