SANDY, Utah (Sunday, May 18, 2014) – The Colorado Rapids Reserves fell 2-0 at their Real Salt Lake counterparts at America First Field on Sunday, succumbing to two late goals.
Among the highlights, though, were Academy players Enda O'Neill and Jovanni Chavez both going the full 90. Indeed, Enda played alongside his older brother Shane, who wore the captain's armband for the Rapids.
New signing Gale Agbossoumonde got 45 minutes under his belt, as he works on his fitness and sharpness ahead of a push for the first team.
Both teams finished the game with ten men. Rapids played out stoppage time a man down after John Neeskens picked up a second caution. RSL lost Carlos Salcedo to a straight red ten minutes from time.
Real Salt Lake took the lead in the 83rd minute through RSL-Arizona Academy forward Nick Jackson. Jackson pounced on a Colorado turnover at the top of the 18-yard box and slotted home.
RSL doubled their advantage just seconds after Neeskens was dismissed, in stoppage time, when Olmes Garcia made a nice run down the left side of the 18-yard box and finished to the far post.
The Rapids Reserves are next in league action on June 20, when they travel to USL PRO side Sacramento Republic FC.
