The Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified team faced off once again versus the Colorado Springs Switchbacks Unified team one final time, but this time at DICK'S Sporting Good Park. The Special Olympics Unified match followed the Rapids 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers Saturday night.
In their final match of the season, the Rapids Special Olympics Unified team topped the Switchbacks Unified Team 4-3.
Following the conclusion of the match, Rapids Executive Vice President and General Manager Pádraig Smith, Rapids Senior Vice President of Business Operations Wayne Brant and Senior Director of Soccer Development and USL General Manager Brian Crookham were all on the pitch to present each athlete with a medal for their participation and dedication.
This exchange program not only provides Special Olympics athletes with top-level training and competitive experiences, but also offers MLS fans an opportunity to witness the talents and abilities of Special Olympics Colorado soccer players first-hand.
