The Colorado Rapids have acquired $50,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) from Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for forward Nicolas Benezet, the club announced today. Colorado can acquire an additional $50,000 in GAM from Seattle if certain conditions are met.
“We thank Nico for his contributions to our club and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” said Pádraig Smith, Rapids Executive VP & General Manager.
Benezet, 30, made 23 MLS appearances and recorded four assists during his time with Colorado after joining the club ahead of the 2020 season. The Frenchman also played 45 minutes in the Rapids’ first-round playoff match at Minnesota in November 2020.
