COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, January 30, 2013) – Colorado Rapids midfielder Martín Rivero is expected to miss 2-3 months while recovering from a fracture in his right foot suffered in Tuesday’s preseason match against the Portland Timbers. Rivero will return to Denver today to receive further evaluation on the injury.
The injury occurred in the 44th minute of the Rapids’ 3-1 preseason match against the Portland Timbers held in Tucson, Ariz., as part of The Desert Friendlies presented by FC Tucson. More information on Rivero’s injury and expected recovery time will be made available in the coming days.
The Rapids have two remaining matches in Tucson, facing the Houston Dynamo on Thursday and the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday before traveling back to Denver. The club opens the season on March 2 and plays its home opener on March 9 against the Philadelphia Union.
