Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that midfielder Sam Hamilton has been loaned to Phoenix Rising FC of the United Soccer League (USL).
Per the Right of Recall incorporated in the loan agreement, Colorado retains the right to recall Hamilton at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.
Hamilton, 22, was signed to a contract on March 4, after being selected in the first round (15th overall) of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Denver.
Prior to joining the Rapids, Hamilton captained the DU Pioneers to the NCAA Semifinals, following a second successive unbeaten regular season. Appearing in 83 official matches, Hamilton finished his collegiate career as the most capped player in Denver’s Division I history, and was recently named the 2016-17 Summit League Male Scholar Athlete.
