The San Jose Earthquakes will try and make it four straight wins as they host a Colorado Rapids side winless in their last three when the Western Conference foes square off at Avaya Stadium Saturday night.
The Earthquakes (10-7-4) rallied from an early deficit to beat the Vancouver Whitecaps, 3-1, last Saturday at BC Place for their fourth win in their last five games. Chris Wondolowski set up Vako's equalizer in the 16th minute after Doneil Henry put the hosts in front after seven minutes. Wondo then put San Jose in front in the 34th minute and Magnus Eriksson added a 79th-minute insurance goal.
The Rapids (5-11-5) raced out to an early lead, but were reduced to 10 men in the first half and conceded twice without response in a 2-1 loss to New York City FC last Saturday at DICK'S Sporting Goods Park. Jonathan Lewis got a measure of revenge against his former club, setting up Sebastian Anderson's first MLS goal in the 6th minute. But the 16-year-old was sent off for a harsh tackle in the 33rd minute and Heber and Alexandru Mitrita followed to give the Cityzens their first win in Colorado.
