GAME INFORMATION
Seattle Sounders FC vs Colorado Rapids
Saturday, March 9 - 8:00 PM
CenturyLink Field - Seattle, WA
With inclement weather and an upcoming road match on turf, the Rapids elected to enlist the help of the Denver Broncos to conduct this week's sessions. With the exception of an off-day on Wednesday, players prepped for the trip to face Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field with sessions on the turf inside the Training Facility at Dove Valley.
Among the highlights from the week were Tim Howard's 40th birthday razz and Jack Price's stunner. Also make sure to watch Price's interview below for some tackling 'dummies' in the background.
On a more serious note, coach Anthony Hudson shares his thoughts ahead of the trip to Seattle while forward Kei Kamara talks about his Cascadia experience against Sounders FC and their longtime central defender Chad Marshall.
WHAT THEY SAID
Head Coach Anthony Hudson
"Going into the game with the players that we’ve got fills you with confidence because they are strong characters, they want to win, they want to do well. It makes other players better. I have a lot more trust and a lot more confidence and faith when we have a group like we have… We have to make sure that we’re all mentally switched on together and that we stick to the plan. If we stick to the plan we’ve got a really good chance at going there and getting a result."
Forward Kei Kamara
"It’s a very difficult place to play, not just the turf but again with the crowd. It looks like after their first game of the season, that they’re very dangerous going forward. We have to respect them. We have to respect the opponent we’re going against. It’s the same thing when people come to Colorado to play us, if they don’t respect us then that is their bad… If we’re disciplined and we’re able to interrupt what they want to do, I’m sure we can get something from it."
Midfielder Jack Price
“Obviously, we’re going to go for three points in every game this season. We’ve brought a lot of quality in and we know we can score goals, so our aim is to win as many games as possible and climb up the table… we’ll be ready.”
