By the numbers: here are 10 stats from the Colorado Rapids' 1-0 loss to San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium on Saturday night.

1.Dillon Serna made a sixth successive start for the Rapids with Saturday’s game in San Jose. He has now made twice as many starts as he did in his injury-hit 2016, while enjoying the longest sequence of starts in his MLS career.

2. The Rapids have now lost on all three visits to Avaya Stadium by the same 1-0 scoreline, since their first trip there in 2015.

3.Jared Watts made his first start in six games. His previous start had been as a central midfielder in the 2-1 home win over Portland Timbers (6/17).

4. At home, the Rapids are averaging 3.8 shots on goal per game (bringing 17 goals). On the road, meanwhile, that number drops to 2.2. They managed two shots on target at San Jose, as did the Quakes.

5. Rapids have failed to score on their last five visits to San Jose (0-3-2). The last person to score for the Rapids in San Jose was Nathan Sturgis, in a 1-1 tie on May 18, 2013.

6. Five of the next seven games are on the road, while the remaining eight away trips are all at Western Conference opponents.

7. With his first appearance in four games, midfielder Dillon Powers has now climbed to eighth on the club’s all-time list (136), one clear of Paul Bravo and four behind Marvell Wynne.

8. The Rapids remain without a road win in San Jose since August 13, 2011, when winning 2-1 at Buck Shaw Stadium against 10-man Quakes (Sam Cronin was sent off). Bobby Burling and Chris Wondolowski started for the Quakes. Simon Dawkins came off the bench. New head coach, Chris Leitch was an unused sub.

9.Mohammed Saeid edged over 5,000 MLS career minutes, while Marlon Hairston went past 4,000 minutes. Hairston has already played more minutes in 2017 than in any of his previous three seasons in the league.

10. The Rapids remain one of three sides in MLS without a road win in 2017. The others are Minnesota United FC and New England Revolution.
