17.07.24 Ten Things

By the numbers: here are 10 stats from the Colorado Rapids' 1-1 draw with Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday night.

1.Dominique Badji has now scored six goals, equaling the career high set in 2016, which he reached from nine more appearances.

2. Badji now has six goals and five assists, which beats the six goals and four assists enjoyed last season.

3.Alan Gordon was credited with the assist on Badji’s goal at BMO Field. He now has three assists in the colors of the Rapids, more than he has tallied in the previous three seasons combined.

4. This was only the second drawn game for the Rapids in 2017, through 19 played. Last season the Rapids tied 13 of their 34 regular season games. The lowest number of tied games involving the Rapids, in the 34-game format (since 2011), was four, which they chalked-up during the 2012 season.

5. It was also only the second tied game involving the Rapids and Toronto, from 16 meetings. The Rapids are now 6-8-2 all-time against the Eastern Conference side.

6. On the 12 previous occasions in 2017 that Toronto had scored first, only twice had they failed to win. This was the first time they had scored first at home and been denied victory.

7. This was the first road point of 2017 for the Colorado Rapids, who are now 0-7-1 away from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

8. In nine visits to BMO Field to face Toronto FC, the 1-1 scoreline represented only the second time that the Rapids had avoided defeat. They are 1-7-1 at Toronto, but now 3-1-1 in the last five meetings, home and away.

9. Jay Chapman scored his first goal in MLS to give Toronto the lead, in the fifth minute. In doing so, he netted his team’s quickest goal of the season to date.

10. Chapman’s goal was also the earliest that the Rapids had conceded this season. The ball hit the back of the net after four minutes and 21 seconds. Jack McBean’s effort for LA at Colorado on June 21 was timed at four minutes and 26 seconds.
