Tim Howard called in ahead of World Cup qualifiers | August 27, 2017

In Conjunction with U.S. Soccer, the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club announced today that goalkeeper Tim Howard has been named to the U.S. Men’s National Team training camp in advance of the USA’s World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica and Honduras.

Howard departed for training camp in the New York area following the Rapids’ 4-1 loss at Real Salt Lake on Saturday night. This season, Howard has appeared in 18 regular season matches, registering three shutouts and 56 saves along the way.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper returns to international duty after helping the U.S. win the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup earlier this summer. Howard appeared in the final three contests of the tournament after joining the USMNT following the group stage.

Howard has represented his country in 36 World Cup qualifiers, which ranks him third best on the current roster, only behind Clint Dempsey (39) and Jozy Altidore (38).

The USMNT will take on second-place Costa Rica on Friday, September 1 at Red Bull Arena. The USA's penultimate home game in the Final Round of qualifiers will be broadcast on ESPN and Univision, with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MT.

Four days later, the U.S. will travel to San Pedro Sula for the third straight qualifying cycle to take on Honduras at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano on Tuesday, September 5. Coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. MT on beIN SPORT and UNIVERSO.
