Nominees for the Colorado Rapids HealthONE Player of the Month are here! The three names up for the award this month are Edgar Castillo, Tommy Smith and Sam Nicholson.

Edgar Castillo was a crucial player for the Rapids this month. The wingback has been instrumental on both sides of the ball starting in three games and scoring his second goal of the season against Minnesota United FC on June 23. In all, Castillo created six chances in 109 passes. He also made 35 defensive plays (duels, tackles, blocks, interceptions and clearances).
Meanwhile, Tommy Smithscored two goals for the club, including the winner against Minnesota United FC (6/23). Earlier in the month, the central defender scored his first MLS goal against Chicago Fire (6/13). Smith played a total of 260 minutes and made 75 defensive actions (duels, tackles, blocks, interceptions and clearances).
The final nominee for HealthONE Player of the Month is Sam Nicholson. This month, Nicholson created six chances in 98 passes, creating about one opportunity in every 16 passes, tailed 23 crosses, had 17 successful dribbles and made 64 defensive actions (duels, tackles, blocks, interceptions and clearances).
