Week 12: Acosta Named to MLS Team of the Week

Kellyn Acosta is in top form and everyone is taking notice.

Acosta was named to the MLS Team of the Week in Week 12 after playing 90 minutes in Colorado’s 2-0 win over Minnesota United last week. Filling in for an injured captain Jack Price at the No. 6, Acosta made a game-high four tackles to help the Rapids earn their fifth clean sheet of the season.

Acosta’s dominance against the Loons came a few days after he was named to the U.S. Men’s National Team for the Concacaf Gold Cup, alongside Rapids teammates Sam Vines and Jonathan Lewis. The U.S. won its opening match, 1-0, over Haiti, with Vines scoring his first senior international goal and Acosta completing 93 percent of his passes over 90 minutes.

The U.S. will continue Group B action on Thursday against Martinique.
