If he wasn’t already, Michael Barrios is turning himself into one of the best offseason signings of the season.
Barrios, who was acquired from Dallas in January, was named to the Week 24 MLS Team of the Week bench following his goal against LA Galaxy on Saturday. The Colombian winger made a dashing run into the box, leaping into the air to head in Andre Shinyashiki’s delivery and give Colorado a 1-0 lead.
This marks the second week in a row and the fourth time this season that Barrios was named to the Team of the Week. He was in the Week 23 Best XI following his 88-minute performance against San Jose. It is also the sixth time in the last seven weeks that the Rapids have had at least one selection to the Team of the Week.
Barrios’ goal was his team-leading sixth of the season. It is the fourth time in his seven MLS seasons that Barrios reaches at least six goals in a season and the first since 2018.
